Dr Rekha delivers lecture, attends National Conference

JAMMU, Nov 7: Dr Rekha Harish, Professor and Head Department of Pediatrics, Government Medical College, Jammu, who is also the National Convener of IAP Task Force for Prevention of Childhood Obesity, was invited by Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Delhi Branch as faculty to deliver a guest lecture on “Office Management of Childhood Obesity: Practical Aspects” during the recently held Pediatric Conference of North India PCNI 2012 at Dwarka Delhi.
Her concerns for the rapidly increasing life style disorders in current times were widely applauded and appreciated especially by the Delhi Association of Pediatric Endocrinologists.
Further, she was also invited at PGIMER Chandigarh to participate in the Panel Discussion on “Immunisation Dialogue” during the recently held National Conference of Respicon-2012 by the IAP Respiratory Chapter. Her co-panelists were Professors of Pediatrics from AIIMS, Chennai and Chandigarh, who is an honour bestowed to HoD from Jammu for the first time.
Dr Rekha Harish is on National Advisory Board for the Journal of J&K-Sciences and National Journal of Practical Pediatrics published from Chennai and now she has also been nominated as “Member National Advisory Board” for the most prestigious Journal of IAP The “Indian Pediatrics” for 2013.
She is currently President IAP City-Branch, Jammu and has been Executive-Board-Member of the National Body IAP in 2010 and was re-elected to this coveted post again in 2012. Her concern for the alarming rise of epidemic of obesity in children which has devastating results in adulthood were widely appreciated at Executive Board Meeting of IAP and she was nominated as National Convener of IAP Task Force for Prevention of Childhood Obesity and Life Style Disorders. She has also been nominated for Fellowship of Indian Academy of Pediatrics.
