Stop evacuation drive of Gujjar-Bakkerwals: GBSWA

JAMMU, Oct 8: Gujjar Bakkerwal Students Welfare Association (GBSWA) today urged the Government to immediately stop ongoing evacuation drive of Gujjar-Bakkerwal people in Jammu areas.
Addressing a press conference here today, State president of the Association, Najma Mushtaq, said Gujjars of village Karandi Khurad of Rajbagh area of Kathua are being harassed by a renowned political leader, who is also a minister in present State Government.
Mushtaq said that this Minister wants to grab the land of these poor people by forcefully pushing them out of their own land where they have settled for last many years, and for that his workers are torturing and threatening them time and again.
The Association president appealed Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to personally intervene into the matter so that the poor Gujjars may live there peacefully.
