KATRA, Oct 8: In its endeavour to maintain best medical practices in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the department of Oncology at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital successfully organized its 2nd master class on oncology.
This year’s focus was gynae-oncology. Jitendra Kumar Singh, CEO, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), was the chief guest while Brig Dr BN Kapoor, Brig Med NC HQ, was the guest of honour.
18 eminent faculties from different institutions across Delhi, Srinagar, Chennai, Chandigarh and Jalandhar delivered lectures on different topics related to gynae-oncology. The conference covered all aspects and treatment options for gynae-cancer including evaluation of post-menopausal bleeding, cervical cancer screening and ovarian cyst evaluation by Dr M Tariq Rasool, Dr Renu Madan and Dr Nadeem Shaukat, respectively.
Dr Hema Malini Aiyar, Dr Shefali Sardana and others focused their lectures on different aspects of gynae-oncology in CA Cervix while Dr Sandeep Kaul, Dr Susovan Banerjee, Dr M Mir Hussain and others delivered lectures on cancer of endometrium.
Dr Rajeev Saini, Dr Satyankar Gupta, Dr Ashutosh Gupta and others delivered lectures on ovarian cancer. The second session of the day covered topics including, Primary Cytoreduction Surgery Vs Interval Cytoreduction, Role of HIPEC in Ovary, chemo therapy in CA Ovary and targeted agents in CA Ovary.
The session was coordinated by organizing committee at SMVD Narayana Hospital, consisting of Dr Sandeep Kaul (Surgical Oncologist), Dr Rajeev Saini (Medical Oncologist), Dr Satyankar Gupta (Medical Oncologist), Dr Vikas Roshan (Radiation Oncologist) and Dr Tapan Sharma (Surgical Oncologist).
Doctors which honoured the session as chair-person include Dr Raksha Sharma and Dr Renu Sharma (Consultant Gynaeco-logy at SMVD Narayana Hospital), along with Dr Kulbhushan Jamwal, Dr Jyoti Hak, Dr Sapna Puri, Dr Savarkar, Dr Rakesh Thusoo, Dr RC Sharma, Dr Dr KL Gupta, Dr Nadeem Showkat and Dr Swarn Singh Katoch.
The conference was well attended by 250 delegates and students from ASCOMS and GMC Jammu.
