Need Analysis Meet organised at CUJ

JAMMU, Oct 9: The School of Education, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), Central University of Jammu, organized the Need Analysis Meet: Phase -II, here today.
The stake holders of this programme were CEOs, DIET Principals and Head of the Department DIETs of ten districts of Jammu division. The key resource person for the meet was Prof Veera Gupta, National University of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi. The principle objective of this programme was to identify the needs of teachers related to the domain of teaching-learning.
The key speaker highlighted the limits imposed on the functioning of the Principles DIET due to lack of synergy with the system. She stressed the extension of support and assistance by CEOs in functioning of the DIETs in their districts.
Dr Veera Gupta emphasized that each one must be aware of his/her accountabilities. The system has certain rights and duties and without these nobody can function properly for attaining objectives, she added.
During his presidential address, Prof Ashok Aima, Vice- Chancellor of Central University of Jammu, quoted Rabindranath Tagore and said, “The aim of education should be to liberate an individual”. He further stressed that the mother temple of education is the school and hence the quality school education should be focused. “It is the high time to prepare young generations right from the school,” he added.
Prof Lokesh Verma, Programme Coordinator, School of Education, CUJ, briefed about the background and details of School of Education, PMMMNMTT.
S  Ravinder Singh, Director of School Education, reiterated the need for relocating the role of teachers to teaching- learning which has been taking a backseat in the present time.
S  Charandeep Singh, Joint Director of School Education, pointed out that every teacher should know his/her fundamental duties of teaching profession.
The inauguration was followed by district-wise presentations in which district representatives shared the ‘to be educational priorities’ for their districts.  The meet concluded with the presentation of district-wise group reports by the group facilitators Dr Kiran, Dr Parmod, Assistant Professor, Dr J N Baliya, Dr Ritu Bakshi and Dr Aman, Assistant Professors, Department of Educational Studies, CUJ.
