Army pays tributes to IAF martyrs

SRINAGAR, Oct 11: Army today paid befitting tributes to the two of its Indian Air Force comrades who attained martyrdom during counter terrorist operation in Bandipora in Kashmir.

Both the Air Force personnel were Garud Commandos, who were operating with the Army for operational experience and training.

In a solemn ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantonment, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks along with Air Cdre, VS Choudhary, AOC 1 Wing AF, paid homage to the martyrs. The officials from other security agencies also joined in paying their last respect to the martyrs.
Martyr Sgt K. Milind Kishor, 33 years, had joined the IAF in 2002 and hailed from Sakri town in Nashik, Maharashtra. Coming from village Udhadih of Bhagalpur district in Bihar, the martyr Cpl Nilesh Kumar Nayan was 31 years in age and had donned the uniform in 2005.
The mortal remains of the martyrs were flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved families of the martyrs and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
