JAMMU, Nov 8: Managing Committee of Tirath Raj Kapal Mochan Shrines & Temples of district Shopian in its meeting here today has warned against the move of Social Welfare Department (SWD) to encroach the land belonging to the Kapal Mochan Shrine at Devgam, Shopian.
In a statement the meeting said the move is intended to hurt the sentiments of the displaced community. The committee has taken up the issue with the concerned authorities also and urged them that any interference with religious shrine by the Government will lead to serious consequences as the move has hurt the religious sentiments of entire Hindu community.
The committee said that the ill advised move of the State Government amounts to negotiations of its tall claim of rehabilitating displaced Hindus back in Valley.
The displaced Hindus of the district Shopian have also made an appeal to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to intervene in the matter and undo the hurt caused to the community. Otherwise the displaced community would be justified in understanding the Government’s proclamations for assuring safe return of the displaced community to the Valley only as an eye wash.
