Protest against LPG shortage

MENDHAR, Nov 8: Residents of Mendhar town today held protest demonstration against the Government for alleged LPG shortage and uncontrolled black-marketing of domestic gas cylinders in the area.
A large number of people of the town today came out on the road near MES office here and started protest demonstration against  State Government,  CAPD authorities and District administration besides local Gas agency dealers. They alleged that there was acute shortage of LPG and people were facing lot of  problems.
The people raised loud slogans  and alleged that local administration has failed to  keep check on black-marketing and plight of the people. They said there was no control on the rate and domestic cylinders were being managed by Dhaba and tea stall owners. They demanded strict monitoring of the functioning of local gas agency dealers and check on black-marketing. The people also blocked road and disrupted movement of traffic between 12 noon and 1 pm in the town.
Later, Tehsildar Mendhar Iqbal Singh and SHO reached the spot and assured the people to look into their grievances and take strict measures in this regard. The people then lifted dharna.
