JAMMU: Empowered authorities of Drugs and Food Control Organization (D&FCO) today conducted market checking in various districts of the region as a part of its ongoing drive to ensure Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 is adhered by food vendors.
Various checking squads on the directions of Commissioner Food Safety conducted the drive in the different markets of Municipal Limits Jammu, Jammu (Rural), Samba, Doda, Rajouri, and Poonch ahead of Diwali festival.
During the inspection 37 samples of Khoya, Ladoo, Double Toned Milk, Guldana, Burfi, Gulab Jamun, Patisa, Peetha, Milk Cake, Rusgulla, Kishmish, Ghee, Badam Giri etc were lifted and 5 kgs of Guldana, 58 kgs of milk, 10 kgs of Khoya and 90 kgs of Rasgulla, 50 kgs of different sweets were destroyed on spot.
Besides, three challans were recommended against violators for running their business units in unsanitary conditions.
Food Business Operators were asked to maintain high standards of sanitary conditions so as to provide safe and quality food products to the consumers. Further, it was said that the special drive will continue in the larger public interest.
