JAMMU. Oct 13: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today directed district administration Kathua to immediately start the face lifting of Lakhanpur, adding that Government is committed to provide good environ to the visiting pilgrims and tourists at the gateway of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister was interacting with the officers after inspecting the site for developing a rotary in the main town area.
District Development Commissioner Kathua, Romesh Kumar besides other senior officers of PWD, Excise, Municipal Committee Lakhanpur and revenue officers were present on the occasion.
It was appraised that the district administration has identified seven marla land near Lakhanpur toll post for construction of rotary and installing the statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh.
The Minister directed the DDC to immediately start the construction work of rotary on the identified land. He said Government is committed to develop Lakhanpur gateway of the State with state of art facilities. He said there is no constraint of funds.
The Minister also directed the district administration to construct road dividers for smooth traffic movement in the town. He appealed the people to cooperate with the district administration for developing the area on modern lines.
Later, several deputations hailing from Lakhanpur and adjoining areas met the Minister and put forth their demands.
The Minister gave patient hearing to them and assured for early redressal of projected problems.
