KARGIL, Oct 15: To pay tribute to the Hazrat Imam Hussain, a martyr of Karbala and for the integrity of the nation, three Army jawans from Kargil district have conquered Ladakh’s highest peak Stok Kangri of Leh district. This peak is the second largest peak in Ladakh region after Nun Kun which is located near Parkachik village of Kargil district.
The youths among them Sajjad Hussain from Thasgam Drass, Maznoor Hussain from Drass, Mustafa Hussain from Gongma Kargil have conquered the peak in 9 days. After reaching in the peak they flared national flag, flag of their regiment and the flag of Hazrat Imam Hussain, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
“Our aim was to flare all these flags to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala and also pray for unity and integrity of our nation”, said Mustafa. Mustafa told that it was their first attempt to conquer any peak by their own and he expressed hope to continue to conquer other peaks including Nun Kun and Mount Everest in future.
