Save Mansar, Surinsar Lakes: Randhir Singh

JAMMU, Oct 15: Senior NCP leaders met under the chairmanship of former minister and State NCP chief Thakur Randhir Singh here today and discussed the issue pertaining to the shrinking of famous Mansar and Surinsar  Lakes of Jammu region.
The NCP leaders    also projected the issues related to  neglect of  Jammu in respect of development  by the Kashmir centric Govt in various fields like Education, Health, Water and Power supply, Irrigation,  Tourism, Agriculture, Sericulture, Cottage Industry, employment, roads and buildings and totally ignoring the water bodies like  Mansar and Surinsar.
Singh said that there was urgent need to remove encroachments around these two lakes and also to protect the left out area and launch drive to remove weeding from these water bodies.
Singh said it is very sad that both Mansar and Surinsar two famous and prestigious lakes of Jammu region located in picturesque environment and enjoyed religious sanctity and devotees from all over  come to pray and bath in their waters. Mansar waters have shrunk more than 5 feet because the so called authority is defunct and is a big mockery for the people of Jammu.
He said both the natural lakes are dying and demanded from all political parties, youth and members of the civil society to  join hands  and march towards these lakes and force the Govt to save these places of tourism attraction as has been described by the Excelsior.
Other who attended the meeting included  KK Digra, Abdul Mustafa, Mohd Akbar Ali Chisti, RC Bali, Liaquat Ali Magray, Gulab Chand Bhagat, RS Billowaria, Udit Baru, Abdul Aziz, Rezban Choudhary,Jatinder Khajuria, Rahul Singh Chib, Kulbir Singh, Col Amar Singh, Ch Dev Raj, Dr PD Shastri and Gurdev Singh Jamwal.
