JAMMU, Oct 15: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary and Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma today laid foundation stone of Water Supply Scheme (WSS), Kangar in Akhnoor constituency.
The WSS, with a capacity of 5,000 gallons per hour, has been taken up under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) and would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore. On its completion, the scheme will benefit approximately 2580 villagers living in Kangar and adjoining areas.
During the visit to Akhnoor, Sham Lal Choudhary along with MP Jugal Kishore also inaugurated recently completed Rs 1.56 cr Water Supply Scheme under NRDWP at Ambi Danna in Akhnoor block. It will cater to the drinking water needs of Ambi and Danna villages having an approximate population of over 1500 souls.
Later, they also dedicated another newly completed NRDWP Water Supply Scheme in Gulaba Chapper area to the people. This water supply scheme has been completed at a cost of Rs 1.82 crore and will benefit several villages.
MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma, MLA Chamb Dr. Krishan Bhagat, Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic Jammu Kuldeep Magotra, Tehsildar Kharawalli Dr. Ashwani Hansa, senior officers of various departments besides former Sarpanches, Panchs and a large number of villagers were also present at the inaugural and foundation laying functions.
