JAMMU, Oct 17: A man was today found dead in a canal in Kanachak area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, the dead body of a man identified as Ravinder Singh (33) son of Rajinder Singh, resident of Raigarh (Chattisgarh), was found from Sua No 1 at Rajpura in Kanachak area.
He said that the deceased man was a painter by profession and was presently residing in Purkhoo camp. “His body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after conducting postmortem”, the official said, adding, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC have been initiated in the case at police station Kanachak.
