JAMMU, Oct 20: JK Council of Engineers today met PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Choudhary Sham Lal and apprised him of their problems and demands.
The Council appealed for release of all posts of AEEs under their 20 per cent quota share to the deserving engineers in Diploma Category, who have completed legitimate qualifying service long back They informed the Minister that out of 484 posts of AEEs, 97 belonged to the Diploma holders under 20 per cent quota share while presently hardly 27 AEEs are available in Diploma cadre, leading to a shortfall of 70 AEEs in the PHE, irrigation and Flood Control Department.
They briefed the Minister that earlier eligible officials in Diploma quota were not available and, therefore, the quota was diverted towards the Degree holders. However, since now there are numerous eligible AEs available in the Diploma cadre to become AEEs, they should be promoted.
The Council demanded immediate release of 70 posts of AEEs in Diploma quota giving cognizance to the GAD order of cadre management in delivering quota among different categories of the Department.
The Minister assured the Council of Engineers that he has already instructed that Diploma engineers should be given justice and in no case their quota should be diverted as they are quite eligible at every step.
The members, who were part of the delegation, included VK Trikha, president, Sunil Sharma, vice president, Kuldeep Singh, secretary general, Romesh Sharma, Deepak Sharma, SC Kerni, Sunil Abrol, Vikas Sharma, Ganesh Singh Billoria among others.
