KARGIL: Like other parts of the country, National Police Day was today commemorated by District Police Kargil to pay tributes to their fallen comrades.
Executive Councillor LAHDC Mohammad Ameer, Principal District and Session Judge RK Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Gulzar Hussain, CO 22 Jatt, JS Gill, retired DIG and former MP G.H.Khan, Dy.SP HQ Kargil, Dy.SP DAR besides district police and army officers along with prominent citizens and retired police personnel were also present on the occasion.
Additional SSP Kargil, Arun Gupta in his address spoke about the history of valour and sacrifice of the Police forces especially J&K Police and also read out the names of the martyrs of all the State Police forces along with paramilitary forces who laid their lives in the line of duty.
Meanwhile, an impressive roll of honour was presented by the District Police Contingent which was followed by wreath laying ceremony by the visiting dignitaries and police officers. The staff and students of Police Public School Kargil also laid wreath at the martyrs’ memorial.
Mother of martyr Constable Zulfkar Ali was also present during the occasion, who was presented a gift as a token of honour by District Police Kargil in presence of the dignitaries.
