KATHUA, Oct 22: A rare species of deer, stag was found dead in mysterious circumstances at village Damal, near Chhan Arorian Wild Life Sanctuary of Jasrota Range in Kathua district today. The local people sighted the dead body of stag lying near the forest area with wounds on its neck.

They told this reporter that the wounds indicate that a hunter might have attacked on it as these wounds on the neck of the stag might have been of hunting. The Range Officer of Wild Life Sanctuary Kathua, Bishamber Singh said that “we have recovered the body of stag and a team of doctors is coming for post mortem. After the verification of all events a case will be registered in this regard and investigation started. He said no one would be spared whosoever will be responsible for the attack.
It may be recalled that similar incident had taken place few months earlier when one stag was also found dead mysteriously at Jasrotia Wild Life Range. The deer was targeted by local hunter with gun shot. In this case no breakthrough has been made so far and no one was taken into custody despite the registration of case.
