JAMMU, Nov 10: The management of the Hotel Fortune Inn Riviera today expressed serious concern over the Adjudicating Authority (Additional District Magistrate) decision to impose fine of Rs 20,000 on the hotel.
According to a clarification issued by C P Gupta, Owning Board, Fortune Inn Riviera, the management of hotel appeared before the Adjudicating Authority two days before and appraised him regarding the sample of cheese and told the office that the decision needed further review.
It was also stated that all the parameters of cheese have been found in order except for one parameter “fat” being on lower side, the statement said, adding it was also made known that this parameter, if at all coming on lower side, is in no way unsafe to consume. Moreover, the samples were taken in the month of June when cheese is imported in the city from adjoining States due to shortage of milk in and around city.
“Transportation in peak summer is basic cause of loss of fat in samples and the laboratory report has no reference of contamination as it qualifies all the other four parameters”, the management said, adding “such news being released by the authorities should be doubly ascertained as it can impact the mind of people and the image of the establishment, which is appreciated by public for its hygiene, cleanliness standards and quality of food”.
