AKHNOOR, Nov 10: Minister for Health & Family Welfare Sham Lal Sharma has stressed the need for promoting moral education in the educational institutions for the healthy and prosperous society.
“The moral values are vanishing from the society and the need of the hour is to make collective efforts to restore the age old rich ethics and heritage of our culture and to give right direction to the younger generation”, the Minister asserted.
Speaking at a one-day health awareness programme in the Government Degree College, Akhnoor today, the Minister said that in the present era the stress has been laid on the children to secure maximum marks and to become engineers and doctors after their studies, but side-by-side moral education is as essential as academic activities for the overall progress of the youth. He stressed for introduction of an exclusive period for this purpose in the schools and higher institutions so that students were nurtured appropriately and prepared to shoulder the future responsibilities.
The Minister announced a mini-stadium in the college to promote the sports activities. The work for the construction of project will start within a fortnight. He also assured to develop an exclusive botanical garden in the college premises for the facilities of students. He directed the SDM, Akhnoor and Principal of the College to attend the problems of the students immediately.
On the occasion, former Head of Department of Blood Transfusion, Dr. T.R.Raina delivered lecture on the moral education and overall development of students.
