JAMMU, Nov 10: Vichar Kranti Manch International (VKMI) in collaboration with other NGOs and educational institutions including Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) organized a rally against the corruption and other social evils prevailing in the society at present.
The rally was flagged off by Dr Ashok Gupta ex IGP. It started form Press Club here and after passing through various bazaars it culminated at Vivekanand Chowk later. The students of various educational institutions and their staff members besides general public took part in the rally and raised their concern against the growing corruption and nepotism in public life.
The rallyists taking banners and pla-cards in their hands were shouting slogans against the rising corruption.
The activists of VKMI, JPPF, SAWERA, Confederation of NGOs, Samaj Kalyan Kendra etc earlier while addressing the gathering stressed on e-governance of all departments including inviting of tenders for purchases by all departmental stores besides giving more teeth to RTI, Accountability Commission, Vigilance Commission etc instead of reducing their powers.
They also urged the Chief Minister to see that investigations against the corrupt politicians, bureaucrats etc are completed within one year and the guilty are awarded maximum punishment to deter corrupt, land grabbers etc so that the State is free from this menace.
