Dogri rock in fest celebrating world music

JAMMU, Nov 10: A notable chapter in contemporary Dogri music opened with Dogri rock figuring in the Rock Fest-III, held to celebrate world music at the Police Auditorium, here today.
Organized by Direction Indicative Society for Harmonious Advancement (DISHA), the  Rock Fest III, which was about celebrating Dogri folk music as part of world music, opened in its first segment with numbers like ‘Jai Mata Vaishno’ and ‘Dogra Desh Jagayi Jayaan Ho’.
Presented by Sumeet Sharma collective, the participating artistes included well-known Hindustani classical singer Jasmit Kaur, young aspirant Kritika Gandotra, Gautam Kotwal as lead and Bhanu Pratap Singh Rathore as base guitarists and Mr Happy as the drummer.
The other second segment, which comprised of pop rock numbers opened with members of new band ‘SAAP’ singing a number. Then Sohail Mushtaq sang well known number ‘I am Cowboy’, which was followed by Sumeet, Gautam and Bhanu playing the instrumental part of Michael Jackson famous song ‘Beat It’. The last item was Sumeet Sharma singing as lead vocalist Aero Smith’s popular number ‘Dream On’.
The chief guest of the function was Inspector IG Police Dilbagh Singh while Padamshree Jatinder Udhampuri presided over the function. Other prominent personalities present on the occasion included Shail, Gulahti, Suman Gupta, Sidharth Sharma, Arun K Gupta, and Shakun Sethi.
