Another Green Revolution

Sir,
By Green Revolution we mean the great progress which the Indian agriculture has made in the field of food production. This has been made possible by the introduction of new methods of farming and technologies. For long and till recently the Indian farmer has been using old and traditional methods of raising crops and has remained dependent chiefly on nature and weather for good crops. Recently the Indian agriculturists have made use on a large variety of high yielding seeds and fertilizers for commercial scale production. Machines have also helped a great deal. The introduction of tractors and combined harvesters have helped the farmer in ploughing the land and growing his field more effectively and quickly. It has been made possible to cultivate more land in a shorter time. Alongwith the commercial production, the focus is on environmental stability, economic and social viability. All these factors have contributed to the increase in the production of food grains.
The phenomenonal rise in agricultural production has not only led the country towards self-sufficiency in food but has also good effect on the country’s economy in general. The prosperity of the farmer has encouraged other industries by increasing his purchasing power. The Indian farmer has become wide awake and progressive in outlook and methods of production. Along with the crop production, the farmers are being encouraged by adopting many other components like biogas production, vermicomposting, green house cultivation, mushroom cultivation, apiculture, fishery, poultry etc. for the surety of the income source round the year. They use the output of one component as a source of input for other component. Therefore, another Green Revolution is needed to be initiate in order to satisfy the increasing demands of food grains for the future generations.
Yours etc…
