SRINAGAR: Security forces on Wednesday burst teargas shells at a village in Pulwama district to disperse demonstrators, who took to the streets after search operation was launched in the area.
Official sources said that following a specific information about presence of militants at village Chandgam in Pulwama, a joint search operation was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF in the area.
However, as the security forces were cordoning off the area, hundreds of villagers from Chandgam and adjoining areas took to the streets and pelted stones at security personnel. They said security forces burst teargas shells to disperse them, The clashes were still going on when the reports last came in. (AGENCIES)
