SC asks ‘Godman’Asha Ram to approach CJI Court for interim bail

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the controversial godman Asha Ram, lodged in jail, to approach the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Court on Friday to seek interim bail in the rape case registered against him for allegedly raping two sisters in Gujarat.
The lawyer of Asha Ram, mentioned on Thursday before a bench of the apex court, headed by Justice NV Ramanna, that his client was in jail since long and he be released from jail and pleaded to the court for an early hearing.
The lawyer further mentioned before the top court that this matter was listed for an hearing after Diwali vacation, but the matter has been listed for January 4, so the court should give an early hearing to his prayer.
The apex court bench asked the lawyer of Asha Ram to approach the CJI Court for any kind of relief on Friday. (AGENCIES)
