Institute of Human Genetics organizes guest lecture

JAMMU, Oct 26: Institute of Human Genetics, University of Jammu, organized a special lecture on “Human Biodiversity”.
Prof S M S. Chahal, Professor, Department of Human Genetics and former Dean Faculty of Life Sciences, Punjabi University (Patiala) was the invited speaker and delivered an interactive lecture on Human Biodiversity.
Prof Chahal stressed upon the different causes of biological diversity such as mutations and genetic drift which has resulted in the genetic polymorphism. The guest speaker in his impressive presentation highlighted various factors related to human biodiversity. He also interacted with the students of the host institute and discussed the importance of Anthropology in the field of Human Genetics.
Earlier, Prof Seema Langer, Coordinator of PG Course Human Genetics, highlighted the relevance of this informative talk for the benefit of the students.
Prof Roopma Gandotra, Dr Parvinder Kumar and Dr Rakesh Panjaliya, faculty members of Department of Zoology and Dr Roopali Fotra and Jyotdeep Kour Raina from the faculty of the Institute of Human Genetics also attended the programme.
