NC seeks larger role of women in decision making

JAMMU, Oct 26: Provincial President, National Conference (NC) Women Wing, Satwant Kaur Dogra, today sought adequate representation for women in Government jobs and decision making, saying this is imperative for their empowerment.
Addressing a gathering of women workers of Panchayat Kheri, Satwant Kaur said that though women constitute half of the electorate yet their representation in Government jobs and in decision making bodies is insignificant. “This trend is required to be reversed”, she said and urged women to come forward and shoulder their responsibilities towards shaping the destiny of the State.
She said the NC Women Wing will hold mahila panchayats across Jammu province to generate awareness about women empowerment. Kaur alleged that wage discrimination between men and women workers in several sectors is increasing but the Government is not bothered about these issues affecting working women.
Kaur said the essence and spirit of democracy will become a reality only when women are politically and financially empowered.
