POONCH, Oct 28: The Police party from Poonch has succeeded in arresting an accused from Delhi, who was wanted in a case of rape of a minor girl and was trying to leave the country.
The case FIR No. 185/ 2017 was registered against the 55-year old accused, Mohd Latif, a father of over a dozen children on October 10, when written complaint was lodged in Mendhar Police Station by a family from Salwa village and complained that their ten years old daughter has been raped and her objectionable video has also been circulated by the accused. The girl was taken along with him by Latief on the plea of making her Aadhar Card at Mendhar. But this close relative of the girl, proved a third -degree hard core criminal who crossed all the limits of humanity and committed rape on this minor and innocent girl, who is student of class 6th. This man has two wives and thirteen children.
On the basis of this, the police team headed by SDPO Mendhar Riaz Tantray started investigation and manhunt was launched to nab the accused namely, Mohd Latif, son of Alam Din, resident of Salwah in Mankote area of Mendhar.
Recently, an input was received by police that accused is present somewhere in Delhi and can make an attempt to move to an Saudi Arabia, Working on this input, Poonch police informed immigration Section and Passport Office.
A special team was framed under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar which was rushed to Delhi and team led by SI Showkat Amin finally succeeded to nab the accused from Turaqmaan Gate in Delhi when he was making arrangements for fleeing to Arab country.
Accused has now been brought in Mendhar while further investigation was in progress.
Pertinent to mention here that on October 21, police also approached court and proclamation under CrPC 87 was issued to seize all immovable and movable property of accused within fifteen days of order while police also issued public notice yesterday in Mendhar and pasted his posters and made open announcement through drum beating appealing people to help police in tracing the accused.
