JAMMU, Oct 28: Prof Pradeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, today inaugurated the two-day “Vet Fest 2k17” at Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu.
During the festival, Literary events were organized in which various types of competitions viz. Debate, Story Writing, Mad – Ad, Ship Wreck, Quiz and Youth Parliament were held.
In cultural events of the festival, various types of competitions of Dance (Solo, Duet and Group), Singing (Solo, Duet and Group), Theatre (Skit, Mime and Monoact), Photography and Flower Decoration were held. Besides, in Sports Events of the festival, various indoor and outdoor games viz. Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis, Carom, Cricket, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Tug of War, 50 & 100 Races were played. The students performed brilliantly in the Literary, Cultural and Sports events.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pradeep K Sharma advised the students that they should actively participate in both the indoor and outdoor sports activities besides literary and cultural events. He desired that such activities should be the part and parcel of the course curriculum of the degree programmes.
He also expressed his happiness on the participation of good ratio of girls in all the events and conveyed his best wishes to the Organizing Committee.
Dr T A S Ganai, Director Education, Dr Deepak Kher, Director (Planning & Monitoring), Dr M M S Zama, Dean, FVSc & AH, R K Saproo, Estates Officer, all Heads of Divisions, other staff members and students of the faculty were present on the occasion.
A ‘Dog Show’ will be organized on 29th October, 2017 at veterinary Faculty, which will be followed by the Valedictory function of the Vet Fest-2017 in which the prizes amongst the winners will also be distributed.
