JMC conducts anti encroachment drive

JAMMU, Oct 28: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) during its drive today removed all the goods/articles kept by the shopkeepers/vendors by encroaching the footpaths, pavements and road sides creating obstructions in the free flow of vehicular traffic and hindrance to the pedestrian and seized two truck loads of material.  Besides, the team also seized 11 reharies operating in non rehari zone and impounded the seized materials at Municipal Yard Town Hall Jammu.
The drive was carried by the Revenue Wing of the Corporation in the areas of Indira Chowk, K.C. Chowk, B.C. Road, Maheshpura, Canal Head, Gandhi Nagar etc. to clear the footpaths, pavements and road side on the instructions of Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner JMC and under the supervision of Veenakshi Koul, Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), JMC.
The JMC has appealed to the shopkeepers and vendors not to encroach upon footpaths, pavements, road sides failing which strict action will be taken against violators, as the encroachments lead to hindrances and creates lot of problems in free flow of vehicular as well as pedestrian movement.
