Ex-MLC pays tributes to martyrs of Qila Darhal

NOWSHERA, Oct 28:  Former MLC and chief spokesperson of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee,  Ravinder Sharma paid rich tributes to the martyrs at Qila Darhal in Nowshera, in an impressive function held at Shaheedgarh today.
A large number of people including senior officers of Army and civil administration attended the function to pay tributes to the civilian and Army personal martyred in defending their country.
While paying floral tributes to the martyrs, the Ex-MLC saluted the courage and bravery of the people who did not leave the area and decided to fight back the raiders and took shelter in the Fort at Qila Darhal. They fought back sacrificing their lives but stopped the advancement of the enemy, as a result the area was not captured by Pakistan and finally the Indian Army repulsed the attempts.
Sharma lauded the role of Army in this border belt and expressed satisfaction over the cordial relations between Army and civilian population since 1947 and felt the need to continue this atmosphere in order to defeat the nefarious designs of Pak in the border belt.
The Congress leader had got a ‘Hall of Fame’ constructed at Shaheedgarh out of his MLC funds, in the memory of martyrs. A Government school was also set up at Shaheedgarh besides opening of a tehsil headquarter and a block headquarters in the area keeping in view the historical importance and the remoteness of this border belt.
