YJD (U) protests seeking ban on sale of liquor

SRINAGAR, Oct 28: Youth Janata Dal (United), J&K under the leadership of State youth president, Sheikh Aijaz Ahmad, today held a protest here at Press Colony against alcoholism in the State.
Addressing the youth activists, Ahmad said J&K is only Muslim majority State of India and its subjects have high religious consciousness due to presence of vast numbers of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist shrines form length to breadth of its area, where BJP and PDP Collation Government has given a free hand to the alcohol and drugs which destroy the structure of our Kashmiriyat.
“Our youth and new generation, instead of going in business and economical sectors, are becoming addicted of alcoholism, a gift provided by the Government”, he said, adding, that it is the responsibility of religious groups, society, social organizations and also political parties to come forward and oppose the new mischievous and sinister excise policy of the Government and push for its total prohibition in the State.
He warned the Government to ban the selling of liquor in J&K otherwise they will come out and destroy all the liquor shops in the Valley.
