POONCH, Oct 30: Primary Health Centre (PHC) Dhar Galoon, falling in Balakote Block of district Poonch is without Ambulance and X-Ray Technician.
This main Govt Hospital of Balakote block on which the people from the villages and hamlets closer to the Line of Control (LoC) are mostly dependent, after being targeted by the Pakistani troops, is facing acute shortage of staff. Unfortunately, this health centre which is about 20 kms away from Mendhar is ill-equipped by the State Health authorities.
The X-Ray machine which was installed here about seven years back is now lying defunct. For the last several years No X-Ray Technician was posted there. There are three sanctioned posts of doctors but only one is at place that too, from Ayurvedic back ground. Out of the total 17 sanctioned posts, hardly 40 % staff is placed here. The only large truck type old Ambulance provided more than decade back is lying out of order since long and in case of emergency or injury due to Pak firing, the patients are mostly shifted in private vehicles or Ambulance is called from Mendhar, Sub District Hospital.
Despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities by the locals this hospital could not be adequately equipped. The area falling closer to this PHC, receives maximum number of injured persons in Pakistani firing but inspite of this fact this hospital apparently has not remained the priority of the State Health authorities. The locals have demanded that new Ambulance be provided and X-Ray machine be made functional with the posting of Technician and other vacant posts should also be filled up besides provision of medicines and other medical equipment.
