HYDERABAD, Nov 4: A major “transformation” is underway in every sector in the country and all stakeholders need to come together to expedite it, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said here today.
“India is on the move. The Prime Minister has given a three-line mantra. He said ‘reform, perform and transform’. The big transformation is taking place in India. In every sector, in every walk of life, there is a transformation taking place,” he said.
“But, this transformation has to be expedited. All the stakeholders – people, public, state, centre, local body, if you all come together, then only this transformation will become faster,” he said.
Naidu was speaking after inaugurating the 10th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference cum Exhibition here.
Indian economy is growing though other economies in the world have seen a slowdown, the VP said.
India’s ranking in Ease of Doing Business has seen a jump, he said.
The Goods and Services Tax would herald a massive transformation in the taxation system, he said.
“GST is going to be a massive revolutionary transformation in the taxation system. Middlemen will be avoided. Corruption will be checked… More revenues will come to the Government and the Government will be able to spend more and more on public welfare,” Naidu said. (PTI)
