KATHUA, Nov 4: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today reviewed progress of mega development projects taken up in Billawar at a high level meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held to pace the work to meet the set targets in stipulated time frame. The Deputy Chief Minister, while taking stock of the status of several development projects in the region, had a detailed review of progress on Juthana Bridge and Indoor Stadium besides several other ambitious projects.
The DyCM asked the concerned departments to fast pace the work and evolve close coordination to remove bottlenecks, if any, immediately and report to the concerned authorities.
Taking review of PHE sector, the DyCM directed the concerned authorities to replace the worn out machinery at Bhaddu and sanctioned Rs 11 lakh for this purpose. He further sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for strengthening PHE infra at Ramkote. He further directed to complete the work of 5 new Tube Wells at the earliest to overcome the problem of shortage in water stressed areas.
He further directed PWD(R&B) to lay emphasis on road expansion and completion of the pending roads.
The meeting was informed that tenders for expansion of Billawar – Sukrala road will be floated soon whereas the work on Chadwal – Mangloor road taken up under CRF has already been tendered.
Dr Singh also directed the concerned authorities to submit proposal for widening of Phinter-Billawar road which is to be executed under CRF. He further directed to complete the blacktopping works before December 2017 to improve road connectivity in the area.
While discussing PDD sector, the Minister said that 9 new sub-stations will be created in Billawar for consolidating power infrastructure. He said 500 electric poles and transformers worth Rs. 50 lakh have been purchased for this purpose. He also passed instructions to take strict action against those contractors who are not working after getting approval for execution of work.
The meeting was attended by ADC Kathua Rashpal Singh, ADC Billawar Joginder Singh Rai, SSP Kathua Suleman Choudhary,ACD, SDPO, CEO, SE PDD Sandeep Seth, Engineers of PHE, PDD, PWD, PMGSY, JKPCC; BDOs, Tehsildars, SWO and other Sub Divisional level officers.
Meanwhile, DyCM reiterated Government’s commitment to develop areas having tourist potential.
He maintained that the natural beauty of Billawar makes it unique place to visit with sprawling landscapes and religious shrines. “The place can be further revamped as heritage town to attract tourists to this area,” he added.
Dr Singh was interacting with the locals after paying obeisance at Ringri Mata temple inside historical Garhi Fort at Thara Kalyal on the occasion of annual congregation of Sumbria Rajput community.
