UDHAMPUR, Nov 8: Terming the recently held rally a big success, former MLA and NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia today announced that Lalkar rally organized by party on November 6, 2017 has laid the foundation of separate Jammu State.
“Large participation of people from all districts of Jammu region has proved that people are fed up with the policies of Kashmir and Central leadership and supported the Haq-Insaaf Yatra started by NPP for separate Jammu statehood demand,” he said while addressing a press conference at party office, here today.
Mankotia said that Jammu province has had been struggling from last 70 years to end continuous discrimination. “After many agitations and movements, new Governments formed in State but successive regimes failed to end discrimination with Jammu region and unfortunately it increased in many fold. Govt’s remain in power at Central level either it be Congress or BJP, both have remained Kashmir centric and due to which unemployment in Jammu region has crossed all limits,” he alleged.
Mankotia claimed that Jammu region was still lacking behind in development activities as many villages and far flung areas of Jammu province san basic facilities of road connectivity, health care, potable water and uninterrupted electricity. “Jammu region also lacks political share in State despite having larger area and population as compared to Valley and unfortunately centre of power remains in Kashmir with its own Chief Minister and now people have no other option of separate Jammu State,” he explained.
NPP president said that his party has launched an honest effort for separate Jammu State and people without considering caste, creed or colour from all ten districts and 37 constituencies of Jammu region participated in the Lalkar rally on November 6, 2017 at Jammu and launched a decisive agitation.
“A large participation of people from this region has proved that no one can stop formation of separate Jammu State,” he predicted.
On this occasion, Udhampur district president Naresh Kumar, senior leader Sanjay Sharma, secretary Tariq Chandel, Vijay Kumar Gusshu and Rajinder Bali were also present in the press conference.
