JAMMU, Nov 8: Banihal police arrested a driver and his associate along with 90 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB10-7421.
During checking, police recovered 90 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver and his associate.
The arrested person has been identified as Harvinder Singh, son of Sukhdev Singh and Mangal Singh, son of Madan Lal, both residents of District Kapurthalla.
A case under FIR Number 170/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aijaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Dheeraj Singh Katoch, Additional SP Ramban Mushtaq Chowdhary and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
