NEW DELHI: Himachal Pradesh recorded 74 per cent voter turn out till 1700 hrs in the Assembly elections held on Thursday.
The figures were slightly higher than those of the last Assembly polls (73.51 per cent ) and 10 per cent more than the voter turn out in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls (64.45 per cent), Deputy Electioneer Commissioner Sandeep Saxena told reporters here.
He said the voting percentage was set to go up after the polling was completed, as there were still log queues at 500 polling stations till 1700 hrs. Mr Sxena said the polling was peaceful with no untoward incident reported from any part of the hill state. Elections were held to 68 seats in the State where ruling Congress is fighting the BJP to retain power. (AGENCIES)
