Army’s 55 RR, SOG Pulwama and 182 and 183 battalions of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today cordoned off Lassipora village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after inputs about presence of two militants hiding in the village
As soon as the security forces laid cordon around the village, youth took to streets and pelted stones at the security forces. Security forces fired teargas triggering clashes which lasted for at least three hours. However, the operation was called off as the militants had fled the village before it was cordoned off.
Army’s 13 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off Banger Mohalla in Hajin area of Bandipora district following inputs about the presence of militants.
As soon as security forces cordoned off the village, locals came out on the streets and pelted stones on the forces. Security forces responded by firing several tear smoke shells at them, triggering clashes. However, the operation was called off later.
Militants tonight attacked Anantnag Bus Stand police post. However, no one was hurt and police fired back but militants fled under the cover of darkness. Security forces immediately launched searches in the area. But, no one was arrested.
Militants today fired at a police vehicle in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Militants opened fire on a police vehicle in Bungam area of Qazigund. There were no injuries to anyone.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the area to nab the militants responsible for the attack. No one was arrested as militants had fled from the area.
Police guards at the District Police Lines (DPL) Awantipora in district Pulwama fired several rounds in air after he noticed suspicious movement near the DPL. Police said that at around 3:40 a.m a police guard fired in air after noticing suspicious movement and the searches were launched in the vicinity of the DPL but no militant was found.
Police today recovered a grenade in Gagren village of Shopian district of South Kashmir outside the residence of a police officer. Sources said that the grenade was hurled few days back and it didn’t explode. The bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot and the grenade was defused. The grenade was rusted.
A group of youth pelted stones at MLA Shopian’s residence in Gagran area of Shopian district. A police party rushed to the spot and fired tear smoke at the stone pelters leading to clashes in which DySP Headquarter Ashiq Ahmad Tak was injured. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Clashes this afternoon broke out in Anantnag town after youth pelted stones at police. Police in return fired tear smoke at the stone pelters to disperse them.
