JAMMU, Nov 11: The linemen and other workers of Power Development Department (PDD) today projected their pending issues and demands during a meeting held today.
An emergency meeting in this connection was held under the banner of All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union at R S Pura. General secretary of the Union, Girdhari Lal chaired the meeting. The members strongly projected their issues and stressed upon the higher authorities to solve their all the long pending demands.
The Union leader pointed out that a large number of workers are working as Linemen and SBA but their designations have been kept as helpers. They should be designated as Linemen / SBA. He also demanded regularization of all the daily wagers/ temporary workers who have completed seven years of service, holding of DPC regularly, implementation of SRO 149 of 1973 in case of non-ITI electricians at par with ITI electricians, remove discrimination among both and to create welfare fund for the Power workers as announced on Feb 27, 2008.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Tara Chand, Vijay Gupta, Anil Singh, Ashiq Hussain, Surinder Kumar, Kartar Nath, Narinder Singh, Prem Kumar and others.
