DIC seizes illegally manufactured machinery

SRINAGAR, Nov 14: A team of officers of District Industries Centre, Srinagar along with the representatives of Kashmir Copper Workers Trade Union, led by General Manager DIC Srinagar today conducted raids in Gulab Bagh area where important machinery components were manufactured illegally. The machinery components along with machine made utensils were seized by the team.
The action was taken under “Implementation of Jammu and Kashmir Prohibition of Manufacturing of Special Copper Utensils by Machines Act-2006”. The raid was conducted on the standing instructions of Director Industries and Commerce Kashmir, Meraj-u-Din Kenu.
The Copper Act-2006 has been brought into force by the Government to protect the craft and business interest of the craftsmen connected with the manufacturing of copper utensils by hand tools only.
