JAMMU, Nov 12: A 2-day Classical Dance Festival, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu concluded today with an enthusiastic performance by Sanchita Abrol, an internationally acclaimed Kathak Dancer from Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof Lalit Mangotra, Convener Dogri, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and eminent Dogri short story writer, poet and scholar was the chief guest.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof Mangotra appreciated the performance of Sanchita Abrol and said that portraying the historical and ritual importance of Utter Beheni and the Devika river through the poetry of famous Dogri poet Padma Sachdeva in Dogri she succeeded to communicate with the audience through her performance in kathak dance.
He also applauded the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for organizing this two days classical dances here at Abhinav Theatre.
Sanchita Abrol began Kathak Dance at the age of 5 and got training of Kathak from Kathak Maestro, Padamshri Guru Shovana Narayan and is an active part of her Guru’s Asavari Institute repertoire.
Her training in early years was with Guru Teerath Ajmani and Guru Ved Vyas.
In addition to her diligence in Kathak, she has Mastered in Public Policy and Management from Melbourne University Australia, B.Com. from Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi and District Toper in AISSCE by CBSE.
She has been decorated with numerous honours and Awards which include “Prem Jamwal Youth Innovation Award” besides meritorious dancer of the prestigious Lady Sri Ram College.
Shivani Anand, a prominent Announcer and Hindi and Dogri poet and short story writer conducted the proceedings of the programme.
