JAMMU, Nov 12: A youth and his father were shot at and seriously injured tonight by one of their close kin in Miran Sahib area of city outskirts.
According to inspector Ajit Singh, SHO, police station Miran Sahib, the accused has been identified as Paramjeet Singh son of Balwant Singh while the injured has been identified as Harjeet Singh (54) son of Balwant Singh, resident of Simbal Camp and his son, Parabjot Singh (26).
He said that the victim Parabjot was going to be married next month and his uncle Paramjeet was angry with him and his (Parabjot’s) father over some issue. “Tonight at about 8.30, Paramjeet visited the house of his brother, Harjeet and in the meantime they have an altercation, which further intensified and in the fit of rage, Paramjeet opened fire from his pistol on Harjeet and Parabjot”, he added.
The officer further informed that both father and son received two bullet injuries. He said that Parabjot received injuries on leg and shoulder while his father was hit by the bullets in abdomen. Both the injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where Parabjot’s condition was stable while his father was in serious condition.
The SHO said that the weapon of offence was recovered from the spot while the accused fled away from the spot after committing the crime. “A case under relevant sections has been registered and efforts are on to nab the accused’, he added.
