JAMMU, Nov 14: To mark the birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, educational institutions across Jammu region today celebrated Children’s Day by organizing various cultural and sports activities in their premises.

Usha Vohra, First Lady of the State, participated in the Children’s Day Celebration programme organized by the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Welfare Society (VKWS), at the VK Sarvodya Middle School, Rajeev Nagar, here today. Students of the schools presented a very impressive cultural programme which included recitation of poems, storytelling, songs and dance items.
On the occasion, Vohra released “Surging Steps”, the souvenir of the VKWS, which contains creative writings of the young children and also presented scholarships to the meritorious girl students who have been adopted by the Society.
Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga exhorted that schools should focus on inculcating moral values in the students making them responsible citizens. The Minister stated this while attending functions organized to mark Children’s day celebrations at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bishnah and Shemford School, Birpur. Ganga stressed upon the teachers to put in dedicated efforts to provide guidance to the students for their all-round development as future of our nation depends on them.
The United Forum of All Private Schools of Leh district today celebrated Children’s Day, at Nawang Dorjey Stobdan Memorial Ground Leh. The celebrations were dedicated to Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche. Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay, was the chief guest on the occasion. Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo and MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora also participated in the event. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Bakula Rinpoche was the pioneer in developing politics, education and modern Ladakh. He taught Ladakhis to become a true nationalist with full respect for the National Flag, said Dorjay.
Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, has announced Rs 2 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the repair and maintenance of the Naveen Shiksha Kendra, High School, Channi Himmat.
An impressive function was today organized by the Management of ‘SAWERA’-an NGO which runs Naveen Shiksha Kendra, High School, Channi Himmat, in school premises. MLC Vikram Randhawa Vikram Randhawa was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the MLC announced to release Rs 2 lakh out of his CDF for repair and maintenance work of the school. Earlier, a colourful cultural programme was presented by the children of the school.
To mark Children’s Day, National Service Scheme (NSS) Campus Units, University of Jammu in association with doctors of University Health Centre, conducted a health and dental checkup camp for the visually impaired students at LBM Girls School which is managed by an NGO and Boys Blind School run by Department of Social Welfare, Roop Nagar, Jammu. More than 60 students were examined and given oral health instructions by the expert team of doctors. Free Colgate toothpastes and toothbrushes were also distributed amongst them.
To celebrate Children’s Day, National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Government MAM College Jammu visited Ved Mandir Bal Niketan Anath Ashram, Amphalla, Jammu. Prof (Dr) Ajeet Angral, Principal of Government MAM College, while interacting with children residing in the Ashram, motivated and encouraged them to make optimal use of their time, energy and resources.
RM College of Education celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm and zeal in its premises. Trustee of the College, Reeta Mengi, was the chief guest of the programme. Students of the College presented colourful items. In her speech, Rita Mengi highlighted the significance of the Children’s Day.
The students and staff members of DPS Nagbani celebrated Children’s Day by conducting a special Assembly, during which teachers enthusiastically recited poems, gave speeches and sang songs. After the assembly a short programme consisting of cultural items was also presented in which students very efficiently took part. The highlight of the programme was the skit that was staged by teachers.
As a part of Children’s Day celebrations, a film festival for children was organized BY DPS Katra in its premises. Besides, various activities like quiz, energy packed dance numbers, recitation of poems, singing of songs and fancy dress competition were organized. The programme ended with speech of Principal, RK Verma.
KC Gurukul Public School, Jakhar (Udhampur) celebrated Children Day’s with pomp and show. A special assembly was organized by the teachers to show their love towards children. Teachers organized some games for the students and their parents. A ‘Tug of War’ competition between class 9th and 10th students was also organized.
Delhi Public School, Udhampur celebrated Children’s Day with great fervor. A cultural extravaganza was presented by the teachers. Teachers also presented songs, dances, puppet Show and a play to express their affection for the students. Various games were also arranged for kids.
Children’s day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at British International School. In order to facilitate the students, different activities and programs were organized keeping their likes and interest in view. Instead of the students, the morning assembly was conducted by the teachers. Students presented various cultural activities.
Maharaja Harisingh DAV Cent Public School celebrated Children’s Day with great pomp and show. The programme started with garlanding portrait of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru by Principal Alok Betab and other staff members. The students performed various activities which include fancy dress competition on various themes, funny games, etc. Folk Dance competition was held in which about 100 students participated.
JK Montessorie British School celebrated Children’s Day (Bal Diwas) with pomp and show. A special assembly was conducted to present tribute to first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. A live stage show “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow” presented by students was the main highlight. Various other cultural items were also presented by children.
Children’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the campus of Vishwa Bharati Public Higher Secondary School Akalpur, Jammu. A special morning assembly was organised by the teachers which commenced with the recitation of the prayer and followed by the various other items such as speeches, news reading, dance and song items and National Song “Vande Matram”.
The celebrations of Children’s Day at Stephens International Public School began with fun assembly. After this, teachers gave many entertaining and enjoyable performances. Besides, chairman of the school, Satvinder Saini, distributed blankets, ration and stationery items among poor people of panchayats Arnia and Seer Balah, as a part of community service.
Children’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in St Xavier Convent Senior Secondary School. Different activities like skit competition, volleyball matches and quiz competition was organized to highlight the importance of the day.
Jammu Sanskrit School, Kathua celebrated Children’s Day in the school premises. Various activities like dances, poem recitation, quiz, skits were organized in the school. Teachers were dressed like children and enacted skits, recited poems and conducted morning assembly for the children to make their day wonderful and enjoyable.
New Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm. The programme commenced with lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Neelam Mahajan. The tiny tots of the Pre-Primary wing had class parties and fun-filled games. The middle school celebrated Children’s Day by putting up a special assembly. They presented songs and a skit. The senior wing put up dances, rock back performances and medleys of songs.
As a part of Children’s Day, a variety of activities for students were organized at Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu. The children cheered their teachers on as they saw them on the stage. They laughed boisterously, sang songs and exuberantly participated in the games organized by the teachers.
The Calliope School Doomi celebrated Children’s Day with pomp and show. Some children were dressed as Jawahar Lal Nehru. The function started with prayer followed by different competitions in which all the participants portrayed the best of their talents. Students of different classes participated in frog race, lemon spoon race and other sports activities.
A function in connection with Children’s Day was organized at Sanatan Dharam Higher Secondary Kanya Vidayalaya, Jullaka Mohalla, Jammu. Students presented various cultural items. Some students also threw light on the life of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru.
The birthday of Pt Nehru was today celebrated as Children’s Day in the premises of Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura with great enthusiasm. The students enthralled the spectators with melodious patriotic songs and different cultural programmes.
For paying rich tributes to former Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru on his 128th birthday, Shivalik Heights Public School, Gurha Mundian organized various activities for children. Chairman of the school, Yog Raj Sharma stressed upon the children to follow the footprint of Pt Nehru and other leaders who worked hard to achieve the independence.
A function was also in Sunrise Public School to celebrate Children’s Day. Professor Sarla Kohli was the chief guest of the program. Students of the school presented a lot of cultural activities and also spoke on the importance of the day.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of first Prime minister of India, a colourful programme was organized in the premises of AOC Higher Secondary School, Subash Nagar (Udhampur). Many inter- class games’ competitions like sack race, kho-kho, lemon and spoon race, etc were organized pre-primary students. Senior students presented dances, songs, skits, etc.
The students of SD Tara Puri Public High School, Gandhi Nagar (Jammu) celebrated Children’s Day with great zeal. The students showcased their talent by presenting different cultural items. In the end, School Principal Neeru Puri blessed the students with her sweet words.
GLS Public School, Amar Colony, Talab Tillo Jammu celebrated Children’s Day with lot of enthusiasm. The teachers and children remembered Pt Jawarharlal Nehru and celebrated the love that he had for children with a host of fun-filled activities and delicious food. Every teacher brought her expertise and talent into the show.
RM Public School celebrated Children’s Day with pomp and show. Children were wearing colourful dresses. Teachers performed solo dance, songs, group dances and acts for children. Some children presented wonderful speech on the occasion.
Kartar Public school, Barnoti organized a special assembly to celebrate Children’s Day. The teachers presented a variety of programs. Various fun activities were specially organized by teachers for the students. The school started with the usual morning assembly; but unlike the regular days, the teachers conducted it instead of students.
Silver Bells High School, Paloura celebrated Children’s Day with pomp and show. Some teachers as well as students delivered speeches on the importance of the day. Later, students presented various colourful activities.
Children’s Day was celebrated by BJP Kashmir Displaced under the chairmanship of its district president Chand Jee Bhat in Government Mixed Higher Secondary Migrant School Bantalab, in which students and teachers took part. The importance of the day was highlighted by School Principal, Prof MK Raina and Kamal Warikoo.
May Fair Schools celebrated Children’s Day in its branches at Chand Nagar, Chinore and Janipur. The programme commenced with lighting of the lamp by the Chairperson of May Fair Schools, VK Basur. The teachers and children remembered the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru. The Pre-Primary children were attired in colourful costumes. The children were shown a short presentation on ‘Chacha Nehru’.
Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana celebrated Children’s Day with zeal. Rich tributes were paid to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. The teaching faculty of Rich Harvest staged a cultural extravaganza for the entertainment of children. Principal Anita Bhatia asked the children to emulate Jawahar Lal Nehru and have a well defined purpose in life. Ruchi Charak, Director of the school was also present.
Children’s Day was celebrated in KV Sunjuwan to commemorate the birth anniversary of Architect of modern India and first Prime Minister of Independent India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru. Cluster level Quiz Competition and Drawing Competitions were organised on the occasion in which seven Vidyalayas of Jammu Cluster participated. The function was presided over by Manish Tuli, Principal, KV Sunjuwan.
The Day was also celebrated at APS Jammu Cantt. The celebration began with a special assembly conducted by the teachers. It was followed by a friendly cricket match and ‘Tug of War’ between teachers and students in which students emerged winners. An entertainment programme comprising of comedy skit, group songs, dance and poetry was showcased for the students by the staff members of the school.
APS Damana celebrated Children’s Day with pomp and show. The day was marked with a number of special activities, events, speeches and acts. The teachers and the students also delivered speeches about the importance and the objectives of the day. The special event of the day was participation of Class XII students on the topic “Target 10–Youth Trustees of Posterity” in which the students spoke on ten different topics related to the nation building.
BSF School also celebrated Children’s Day. Ram Awtar IG BSF Jammu FTR, Chairman of the school was the chief guest on the occasion. A wide range of innovative and fun filled activities were organized. Various competitions such as Rangoli, Mehandi Designing, Flower arrangement, Salad Making, Needle and Thread race, Lemon Spoon Race and a cricket match between the staff and the students was organized.
Army Public School Dhar Road celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm. Cultural extravaganza was presented by the teachers of the school. A special assembly was conducted by the teachers of the school in which morning assembly, humorous news and a special song was presented by the music teacher to make the children realize the importance of parents in their life.
A function to celebrate Children’s Day was also organized at Apple Kids International Preschool, Bantalab. The teachers made the day special, as they had a lot of fun filled activities lined for them. The day began with the informative and entertaining special assembly in which the students were informed about the importance and significance of day. Children participated in various activities.
Modern Montessori International School, Jammu organized a colourful programme to celebrate Children’s Day. Attired in colourful dresses, the little angels of the school participated in various activities organized on the occasion. Various games were also organized for the students.
Children’s day was also celebrated in Daffodils Care Convent Pre School. The occasion started by paying homage to Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru by Principal of the School Shikha Puri and Chairperson Narinder Gupta. Children recited rhymes and danced on different songs. Teachers presenetd a skit based on good touch and bad touch.
Kidzee celebrated Children’s Day at its branches in Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Talab Tillo. The kids were dressed up as Chacha Nehru. Demonstration was also given to the toddlers regarding the life of Pt Nehru.
Mount Litera Zee School, Anand Nagar, Bohri and its junior wing Kidzee celebrated Children’s Day by organizing various sports activities. The function started with a special assembly in which the teachers gave demonstrations regarding the occasion. The students and staff also delivered speeches related to Children’s Day celebration. A picnic was also organized for the students.
Indira Kids Play Way School Shant Nagar (Janipur) celebrated Children’s Day. On the occasion, students presented cultural items. Principal of the school highlighted the importance of the day.
Little Angels School Vijaypur also celebrated Children’s Day. The programme started with flag hoisting with National Anthem followed by March Past, PT and Yoga. In ‘Show Your Talent’ programme, the tiny-tots presented a variety of colourful cultural programme in collaboration with their respective teachers. They displayed divergent items like dance, mono acting, skits, patriotic songs, dare-devil show of roll ball and skates.
Green Fields School celebrated Children’s Day with a play presented by Kindergarten. Through songs and dance children depicted how trees and animals coexist in the environment and the need for saving them. Principal Bhavana Sethi was also present on the occasion.
Children’s Day was celebrated in Government Girls Higher Secondary School Satwari. Principal Neelam Gandotra stressed on hard work to become the architect and builder of Nation. She also distributed prizes to the participant students who spoke on the occasion.

On the eve of Children’s Day, Nat Manch presented Dogri play ” Majboori ” as the part of its ongoing Tuesday series at Shakti Nagar, Jammu. Actors of Nat Manch put up a street play, showing how rights and responsibilities go hand in hand and are necessary in our daily lives. Those actors who performed in the play were Tarun Sharma , Ranjeet Singh, Kunal Sharma and Ansh Singh.
Little Champs Play Way School, New Plot celebrated Children’s Day function in its school premises with fervour and joy. Various activities like fancy dress, dance competition, Rhyme competition, Talk show, etc were organized on the occasion. It was week-long celebrations which commenced on November 9 and concluded today. Prizes were also distributed to the winners under various categories of the competition.
