‘Operation All Out’ will go on during winter: Spl DG CRPF

JAMMU, Nov 16: Special Director General, CRPF, J&K, SN Srivastava said today that very few educated youths have joined the militancy in Kashmir and it was not “worrisome phenomenon” even as he expressed confidence that `Operation All Out’ launched jointly by all security agencies would progress smoothly during winter also.
Speaking to reporters in Rajouri after conducting high-level review of security situation with CRPF, civil and police officials in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, Srivastava said security forces have succeeded in controlling militancy to great extent during the ‘Operation All Out’ launched against militants in Kashmir.
“The operations against militants will continue in winter as well despite harsh weather conditions. We are not going to relent. All militants operating in the Valley have to be killed or arrested or they would have to surrender,” the CRPF officer said, adding that a number of militants have been eliminated or apprehending during the ‘Operation All Out’.
He hoped that the ‘Operation All Out’ would lead to return of peace and normalcy in the Valley.
In response to a question on some educated youths taking to militancy in Kashmir, Srivastava said: “it was not a worrisome phenomenon as there were only very few specific cases of educated youths joining the militancy. The issue can’t be generalized”. He added that security forces were taking steps to wean away youths from the militancy and make them surrender.
Replying to a question on infiltration by the militants during winter, the CRPF Special Director General said the militants will try to infiltration but security forces are ready to foil their attempts.
“Security forces are ready. They are maintaining high alert on borders,” he said, adding that a strategy against infiltration attempts and militancy was in place, which can’t be shared.
Asserting that Pakistan was misusing social media to lure Kashmiri youths into militancy and violence for creating unrest in the Valley, Srivastava said this aspect was being vigorously pursued by security forces and efforts were on to ensure that the youth didn’t fall into trap of Pakistan and their sponsored militant.

“We have succeeded in weaning away many youths from the militancy and unrest,” he asserted.
Advising the youths not to join militancy or other forms of violence, the CRPF Special DG said the youths have no future in such type of activities and they should pursue education for bright future.
Lauding the CRPF personnel for doing commendable job in Jammu and Kashmir, he said normalcy and peace were getting restored in the State slowly.
Earlier, addressing the CRPF jawans at Poonch and Rajouri districts, Srivastava called upon them to be prepared for meeting with any eventuality.
The Special DG CRPF also reviewed security situation in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch with officers of CRPF, civil and police administration and Intelligence agencies. He boosted morale of the CRPF personnel in the two districts by inter-acting with them.
During his visit to Rajouri and Poonch districts, Srivastava was accompanied by IG CRPF, Jammu Zone Abayveer Chouhan and SK Mishra.
