Drugs traffickers arrested with heroin

JAMMU, Nov 17: With an aim to save the youth from becoming drug addicts, a joint team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station and Digiana Police Post under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a notorious drugs trafficker along with heroin worth several thousands.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a joint team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station and Digiana Police Post laid a naka at T-Chowk Preet Nagar and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing the cops, the pedestrian tried to escape, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 10 grams of heroin worth several thousands from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Manjot Singh, son of Manjeet Singh, a resident of Preet Nagar Digiana.
The accused was a notorious drug peddler who was involved in selling heroin to the youth to make them addict. He was also booked under the same offences by different police stations of district Jammu in the past.
He was one of the main supplier of heroin in the Digiana area and by arresting him police achieved a major success by not only stopping this menace of drug supply in the region but also by preventing the supply of consignment to the youth of the society so that they don’t become drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 212/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar DySP (P) Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani and assisted by Incharge Digiana Police Post SI Pawan Dogra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
