Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti honours Lalit Magotra, Nilamber Dev Sharma

JAMMU, Nov 15: J&K Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL), organized a function to honor Prof Lalit Magotra and Prof Nilamber Dev Sharma, for their life long dedication to the development of Dogri language in particular and culture in general, at the K L Saigal Hall, here today.
The function was presided by Ved Bhasin, Chairman, Kashmir Times group of publications. Other prominent personalities present on the presidium included President Dogri Sanstha Prof Lalit Magotra, eminent scholar Dr Ved  Kumari Ghai, Secretary JKAACL Khalid Bashir, Additional Secretary Savita Bakshi, President and Secretary J&K Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti Prof Satya Pal Srivatsysa and Prof Bharat Bhushan Sharma.
Prof Magotra was presented a shawl and certificate while Prof Veena Gupta, Secretary, Dogri Sanstha, received the honour on behalf of Prof Sharma, who was away at Delhi.
Yash Pal Nirmal, highlighting achievements of Prof Magotra, said that winner of Sahitya Akademi award for his book ‘Chete Diyan Galiyaan’, and presently president of Dogri Sanstha since 1996, is basically a physicist. He is writing in various genres of Dogri including short story, one-act play, stage-play, essays, travelogue, radio plays and literary criticism. His book titled Zamin and one more book were adjudged as Best Book by the JKAACL and he was also conferred State Award for his outstanding contribution to Dogri language, literature and culture.
Amita Mehta, brought to light the literary accomplishment of Padamshree Nilamber Dev Sharma who has been awarded Padamshree for his contribution to the field of culture and Dogri language.
Earlier, after the welcome address by Savita Bakshi, Prof Satya Pal Srivatsya threw light on the background of Samiti and its mandate to make Hindi to act like a bridge between different languages of the country.
A multi-lingual mushaira was also held on the occasion. The participating poets included Dr Jatinder Udhampuri, Pritpal Singh Betab, Rahat Hussain, Mangal Dass Dogra, Shreyas Kumar Jain, K K Shakir, Puran Chand Badgotra, Amita Mehta, Neelam Kumari, Prof Raj Kumar, P L Parihar, Sham Talib, Bhupinder Singh Bhargav, Inderjeet Kesar and Ramneek Singh.
