Life imprisonment awarded in murder of teacher

SRINAGAR, Nov 22:  A local court today awarded lifer to a convict for murdering private school teacher.
The Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Rashid Ali Dar passed the order of sentence after hearing arguments and submissions of the counsels for the prosecution as well as the convict..
On Monday, the court held Irfan Bhat of Fateh Kadal in downtown Srinagar guilty for offences of Section 302 RPC (Murder) and Section 341 (wrongful restraint) and the quantum of punishment for the offence was announced by the court today.
Police investigation revealed that July 8, 2008, the deceased was on way to school to perform her duties and was stopped by the accused and stabbed with sharp edged weapon with intention to kill her outside her home at Hyderpora.
The critically injured teacher was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
