JAMMU, Nov 24: A two day North Zonal regional workshop on Government Accounting issues was organised by the office of the Accountant General, Jammu & Kashmir at Regional Training Institute Jammu.
The workshop started today and will conclude tomorrow. The workshop was presided over by Anita Pattnaik, Deputy Comptroller & Auditor General of India (Government Accounts) who was also the State guest. The workshop was attended by senior officers from the office of C&AG of India, Accountants General from Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
Officers from the Finance Department of these states, officers from Odisha State, Railways and NIC Jammu also participated in the workshop.
The aim of this workshop was to frame the best practices in Government Accounting that would be adopted by all the State AG offices dealing with Government Accounts. New areas of accounting like Asset Accounting and Reporting, Compensatory Aforestation Fund (CAMPA), e-Kuber and Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) were thoroughly deliberated in the workshop.
Anita Pattnaik, Dy C&AG and Shourjo Chatterjee, Accountant General Jammu and Kashmir during the course of the day also met Mehbooba Mufti, the Chief Minister and discussed with her the brief outcome of the workshop and accounting related issues like proper accounting of Central grants and delayed clearance of Advance drawals by the State Government.
The workshop concluded successfully today and the vote of thanks was presented by RK Pandita, Senior Deputy Accountant General Jammu.
