Licences of 4 fair price shops suspended

JAMMU, Nov 25: On the directions issued by Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali in a public meeting held at Gandhi Nagar, a joint team of FCS&CA and Legal Metrology conducted export inspection of various Government fair price shops located in Jammu.
The inspection was conducted under the supervision of Joint Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. The team comprised of Deputy Director Supplies, AD City Circle I, AD (T&S), Inspector Legal Metrology.
During the course of inspection at Government fair price shop depot number 162 at Satwari, it was observed that the dealer had not displayed the rate list, scale of ration and not installed the complaint/suggestion box.
The dealer failed to produce the stock register, issue register and sale register. On the complaint of inhabitants about non issuance of ration as per the scale, the licence was suspended on the spot.
The fair price shops number 27 at Ustaad Mohalla, number 287 at Toph Sherkhania and number 251 at Paloura were found closed at 5:35 pm, 5:45 pm and 6:00 pm respectively. As such they were also placed under suspension for failing to remain open during the prescribed working hours and dispensing food grains to the beneficiaries.
