Hold probe into Linemen’s negligent death: Union

JAMMU, Nov 25: All J&K Electric Department Linemen & Workers Union has demanded inquiry into the circumstances which led to the negligent death of Lineman Ganesh Singh  from Kathua during duty.
A meeting of the Union was held at Nai Basti Power Station under the leadership of Suresh Chand Anthal, president of the Union. The members paid tributes to the departed daily wage employee Ganesh Singh, son of Krishan Singh, hailing from Kharoot in Kathua. He died on November 23, 2017 while performing his duty.
The Union strongly urged upon the Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu to order inquiry into the matter and take action against the  concerned staff for negligence. The officials controlling the power receiving station are responsible for the death of the Lineman. The Union also urged upon the PDD authorities to provide adequate compensation to the deceased’s family and job for one member of this family as Ganesh was the only earning member in his family.
They also demanded inquiry into the incident of serious injuries to daily wager Karan Singh also from Kharoot in Kathua, who was working on LT line in the recent past  and no action till date has been taken by the Chief Engineer or SE PDD in this concern.
