One killed, four injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Nov 25: One person was killed while four others were injured today in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police official, today at about 6.40 PM, a rashly driven tipper bearing registration number JK02T-0187, which was on its way from Akhnoor to Jourian, hit a without number scooty and a motorcycle bearing registration number JKO2AW- 8162, which were coming from opposite direction, at Nud near Nai Basti.
The scooty rider namely Shubam Kumar (18) son of Ravi Kumar, resident of Sua No 1, tehsil Bhalwal, received serious injuries in the mishap while bike rider namely Sikander Kumar (35) son of Parma Nand, resident of Bomal (tehsil Jourian) also got injured.
Locals shifted the injured persons to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, from where doctors referred them to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where Shubham was declared as brought dead by the doctors while condition of Sikander was stated to be stable. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem.
In this connection, a case FIR No 246/2017 under Sections 279, 337 RPC was registered at police station Akhnoor and all the vehicles involved in the mishap were seized while efforts were on to nab the unknown tipper driver, who fled from the spot after committing the crime.
Another mishap occurred this morning in Gandhi Nagar area, where a speeding mini-bus bearing registration number JK02AL-8266 turned turtle near Government College for Women. In the mishap, three passengers were injured and they were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment.
The injured were identified as Fatima (19) daughter of Mohd Ali, resident of Kargil (at present Sarwal), Shahzad (30) son of Ghar Din, resident of Smailpur (Samba) and Ajay (27) son of Birbal, resident of Bawe (Kaccha Talab). Gandhi Nagar police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
